Obama '08!!!

The primary season has finally come to an end, Obama is finally the Democrats' Presidential nominee.

We are for change!!!!!!!!

Even if you aren't an Obamatier, you really ought to see this video of his acceptance speech he gave in St. Paul, Minnesota. The crowd says it all, really.

This nominee is for my grandmother, who poured everything she had into me, and made me the man I am today.

Tagged!

(EDIT: Updated in December 2011)
Last eight movies I saw and loved

1. The Artist
2. Top Gun
3. Real Steel
4. Love, Actually
5. Inception
6. Girl, Interrupted
7. Kung Fu Panda 2
8. A Beautiful Mind

Eight things I want to do before I die

1.
Be a computer scientist. Save the world, one line of code at a time.
2. Learn to play top ten rock guitar riffs, learn piano
3. Work for the Indian administration.
4. Watch Coldplay, U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, or Jason Mraz play live.
5. Travel around the world, talking to the natives and eating local food.
6. Make money. Adopt a baby boy from Darfur, Somalia or any place for that matter.
7. Attain nirvana and contribute to humanity.
8. Marry an intelligent, funny, good-looking man and make babies.

Eight things I’m passionate about

1. Learning.
2. Living in different cultures.

3. Making a difference and doing good to humanity.
4. Being funny.

5. Loving my friends and my family.
6. Harry Potter. Very close to my heart. Joanne Rowling taught me love, friendship and valor. I'm not afraid to face death in case of a Voldemort type situation and it’s made me better prepared (hopefully) to lose my loved ones.
7. Things that I begin. The Words and Beyond Club, for instance. Perhaps a lame theme for a gathering, it remains my object of affection and sincerity. Sometimes I surprise myself about how seriously I take it and passionately I stand up for it. I guess it will take more than disheartening critics, jeering members and detached teachers to stop me.
8. Discussing World politics and economy however little I know. There’s still so much to learn and read about! I like to converse with my Dad on things like the depreciation value of the dollar, recession, democracy, motives behind the Bombay Sock Exchange like it is (my dad does most of the talking, and I do the listening), Barack Obama, Barack Obama and some more Barack Obama.

1. Awesomeness
2. Intelligence
3. Wit
4. Good Conversation
5. Funnyness
6. Smarty-pantsness
7. Niceness

Yes, We Can.

This is a song featuring Will.I.Am, Common, Nick Cannon, Scarlet Johansson, Enrique Murciano , Esthero and others inspired by Barack Obama's 'Yes, We Can' speech. The song should say the rest. Please leave your comments on what you think.

And yeah, Yes We Can.

Yeah, right

'Afternoon.

So 'sup? Well, I have my class Assembly tomorrow, where I'm saying the speech. The part most kids dread as a mundane, soporific and dreary long sermon. And guess what? That's precisely what I'm doing. And adding to that our topic, it's ideal! Republic day, obviously.
Besides, I usually do the compering (which is real fun, when not cliche.) or stand at the back. I don't mind my part at all though, I love to speak. I even got to say the reading at church last week, I like doing that.

I have a lot of things to do, but I'm still blogging. Incredible, I know. And I say there should be more than 24 hours in a day. Anyway, my pre-poned final exams start on 19th Feb., and I'm not going for my guitar classes till March. I'm missing too many to continue, at least for a while.

I've had my Biology Prac Exam, which was ridiculously easy, because I had to identify the Pigeon. The easiest of 'em all, it was better than the green thing swimming in a petri dish any day (ai, it was the spirogyra). We're having a few more next week, like Math and Physics. Our new session's starting in March, which is a month ahead of everyone else, pity.

The next big thing, my favorite season is giving me a hard time. My allergy gets worse every time I'm in the proximity of anything and everything woolen. And give me a break, it winter! My face goes all red and swells up when my sister thrusts her sweater onto my face to see the amusing consequences. Sigh.

Considering I'm the one in the house who hardly feels the chill, I walk around barefoot, with no sweaters on. But looks like it really is getting colder, 'cause you'd find me under the quilt half the day. After doing my Geography project, I think it's the erupting volcanoes that are bringing down the global temp., that's what Wiki says.

PS The Words and Beyond magazine is actually getting printed! It'll be done by Monday next week. And personally, I think it's one of the best magazines that I've come across, the forward gets a special mention.

Goin' Back in Time

Welcome, welcome. I know that my blog readership has drastically gone down, but I owe this blog more than a post. It’s the last day of my Winter Holidays and I’m going tenth this year.

So I'm guessing I won’t be writing much, (don’t say, ‘Like I ever did.’ See, I’m doing it.) except maybe upload pictures on my other blog.

To update my life, my holidays have passed with hardly any dramatic event.

Waking late, sleeping late, reading, writing fiction, playing the guitar, listening to music, talking, holidaying. I decided to write about all the events that happened last year in nearly correct chronological order. For convenience, I’ve split it into parts.

Happy reading!

PS Atlantas has been updated with the Agra pictures as on 3oth Dec. Check it out!

Part I

In July sometime, I went to Kerala for my cousin’s wedding. Just me and mom. Apart from the fact that we reached right after the wedding finished, the rest of the stay was simply amazing. Not only because I met with all my aunts, uncles and cousins but also some real hilarious company.

My cousins’ cousins, Sentil and Peter Thompson are from Canada. Sentil is 20 years old and is studying Law, and Peter is in seventh Grade and is 12.

Both have the most amazing sense of humor I’ve come across, but I was never tired of laughing. You won’t see Peter without the GameBoy Advance in his hand, although later when I tried, it wasn’t all that bad. The good part being that you had something like 290 lives. So dying was the last thing on your mind.

I once stated my life's desire with a sombre expression fit for Condoleezza Rice, “I’d like to be a CNN correspondent.” That started a common joke that never stopped being funny.
Standing up with a make-believe mic, Sentil and Peter would say with a serious expression,
“Sobhagya Jose (pause) Baghdad,” with a jerk of the head. And they would be in splits the next second. I couldn’t help but join in.

And every time, I said my name for any reason, one of them would add, “Baghdad.”, and all of us would laugh till our sides ached.

Another common joke became how one of Peter’s classmates had tried to pass off a French assignment without preparing. He would point at the things around him in class, and say in turn, “Le desk, le chair, le fan, le crackers…” Peter used to find this joke especially funny, and acted no less than a lunatic every time he recited this one.

I still appreciate the good time I had with them back in Kerala and hope to meet them again some time. Although it seems unlikely. Thanks guys, for being yourselves and giving me one of my most memorable stays.
